St. Luke’s playground redesign wins favorable report after board requests screening and samples

Presenters Wilder Gleason (Gleason Associates) and Richard Turlington (Richard Turlington Architects) said the vinyl fence has been moved 6 feet away from the existing stone wall and that 46 black dragon cryptomeria (Japanese black cedar) are proposed between the wall and fence as screening. The playground footprint was reduced and play equipment moved farther from the road; the board requested dark‑grey or black fence samples, black hardware, and that mulch be placed between fence and wall. The plan retains two playgrounds: a smaller one for the youngest children adjacent to the building and the older‑children play area at the existing location.
