Board approves up to $25,000 to settle Buehler's sewer bill, requires meter relocation
Summary
The owner of the old IGA (Buehler's) offered $50,000 to settle a sewer bill. The Board of Works discussed and approved a conditional settlement to resolve a sewer bill tied to the former IGA building (Buehler's).
Jim McDonald reported that the property owner submitted a sewer bill and "made an offer to settle for 50,000." He described a plan to plumb the water line out of the building to a new outside meter so the meter could be set outside and the owner would adjust interior plumbing. After discussion of how costs might be split, Bruce McIntosh moved to approve up to $25,000 to pay the sewer bill provided the owner signs written terms and moves interior plumbing to match the outside-set meter; the motion was seconded and passed. Board members said a formal write-off motion and water-board steps would be finalized at the next meeting once paperwork is complete.
