Commissioners seek clarity after letter says ADR will charge East Arcadia for fire responses

Commissioners reviewed a June 24 letter from ADR stating it would no longer provide services to the Town of East Arcadia after July 31, 2026 unless paid fees, and that ADR did not have automatic or mutual-aid agreements with the town. County staff and commissioners exchanged questions about existing contracts and who covers responses in the area.

The county manager read the letter's terms during discussion and said ADR's proposed fee schedule included a structure response fee of $"$4,600" and an extraction fee of "$1,500." Commissioners asked staff to contact ADR, the town and the fire marshal immediately to clarify whether existing contracts cover those areas and whether mutual-aid expectations have changed. Several commissioners emphasized public-safety risk and the need for a written clarification.

Board members noted that some areas appear to fall into a coverage "donut hole" where contract lines and response responsibility are unclear. Commissioners directed county staff to pursue written confirmation of obligations and to report back urgently so the county can ensure continuous emergency coverage for affected residents.
