The Key Colony Beach City Commission unanimously approved a variance on Aug. 21, 2025 permitting homeowners Dale and Jennifer Hamill to build a pool that will encroach five feet into the required setback at 150 11th Street. Commissioner Tom Harding moved to approve the variance, Commissioner Tom DiFransico seconded, and a roll-call vote recorded all commissioners present voting in favor.
Building Official Tony Loreny described the request as routine and confirmed the surface material that will surround the pool (the minutes do not specify the material). Planning & Zoning Board Chair George Lancaster told the commission the Planning & Zoning Board had unanimously approved the requested variance and that the matter will appear on the Board's next agenda. Vice-Mayor Doug Colonell presided over the hearing; Mayor Freddie Foster participated via Zoom. The hearing adjourned at 9:37 a.m.
