Lindsborg's Convention and Visitor Bureau billboard leases along I-70 were renewed with two one-year contracts approved Dec. 2. Staff reported one sign was permanently damaged by storm and replacement is restricted under current law if more than 60% of the structure is lost; Lamar was the only vendor with current available real estate. The proposed sites include a Paxico-area westbound sign ($415 per four weeks) and a cross-reader site further west ($325 per four weeks). Council approved the contracts at a combined cost of $9,620 with an additional $1,584 for graphics, moved by Councilmember Andrew Smith and seconded by Councilmember Kirsten Bruce; the measure passed 8-0.
Staff explained that Lamar prefers one-year contract terms for renegotiation annually rather than the three-year agreements used previously under the vendor Gregory (whose assets were sold to Lamar). The minutes indicate staff evaluated other sites but found limited immediate availability for the desired placement.
