Committee endorses wider use of county QPR suicide-prevention training

Committee members reported a recent suicide-prevention presentation by Catherine Rupkus drew strong interest and encouraged bringing county QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) trainings to local venues such as the library, senior center and schools.
"There is a 1 hour training, apparently, that is available that, the county actually is right now offering in different places," a committee member said, and staff noted that registration is required for a March session at the public library. Clinic staff and committee members said the one-hour format is widely usable and recommended broader staff participation, including police officers and volunteer groups.
Members asked staff to explore scheduling and outreach so county trainers could deliver sessions locally and to consider pairing training with other committee outreach efforts.
