Residents urge Declaration reading, museum for Arthur Campbell and express concern about certain businesses

During the public-comment portion of the June 30 meeting, Eddie Louthian of 704 Wassum Valley Road asked permission to read the Declaration of Independence at RiverBend Park on Saturday and between a Sunday baseball game and fireworks; council member Tricia Spencer suggested he coordinate with Ken Heath and Town Manager Andrew Keen said he would pass along Louthian’s contact information.
Charles Wassum noted the Commonwealth of Virginia’s 250th anniversary and urged the town to create a museum dedicated to Arthur Campbell. He testified he does not envision tattoo parlors, skill games, or vaping in Marion and said there are two historical markers on Park Boulevard about Arthur Campbell. Council did not take formal action during public comment but thanked speakers for their remarks.
