Town Attorney Mark Fenyk reminded council he can provide Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) training and urged formal adoption of the updated state code. By motion of Suzanne Jennings, seconded by Mayor Avery Cornett, the council adopted the Code of Virginia as amended July 1, 2026; the vote was recorded as 7 AYES and 0 NOES.
Fenyk noted while serving as the town's FOIA officer he is available to provide training to council and staff; the minutes record a unanimous vote to adopt the state's code amendments effective July 1, 2026.
