The Marion Town Council approved a Special Use Permit for a home‑based Farmstand at 618 Chatham Hill Road on July 6. During the public hearing Todd Long reviewed the application and read a letter of support from a neighbor; council voted 7 AYES and 0 NOES to grant the permit.
Bridget Preston, speaking for the applicant family, said "Farmstands fall under the Cottage Laws, so health inspections are not required," and Lisa Stone raised questions about health codes, temperature controls and expiration dates for baked goods. Council considered the staff briefing and neighbor support before approving the permit; the motion was made by Todd May and seconded by Larry Carter.
