Council members reviewed the streetscape program and said phase 6 will focus on sidewalks, curbs, ADA crossings and drainage; lighting had been deferred in some blocks for cost reasons and was included in a later grant request for phase 7. A committee member said the standard phase package includes sidewalks, curbs and crossings and that drainage is a major cost driver.
The council discussed a pilot for LED streetlight replacement that would allow adjustable intensity by location, potentially cutting energy costs. Members said Potomac Edison indicated it will replace fixtures and that the town can choose different Kelvin/color temperatures for different zones to address complaints that some lights are too bright. The council agreed to continue streetscape design and to hold a streetscape meeting to refine priorities and designs.
