Town proclaims Constitution Week; DAR invites community bell-ringing on Sept. 17

At its Sept. 2 meeting the Town of Bath proclaimed Sept. 17–23, 2025 Constitution Week and the Daughters of the American Revolution invited residents to a courthouse bell-ringing on Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.
Mayor opened the Sept. 2 council meeting by presenting a proclamation marking Sept. 17–23, 2025 as Constitution Week for the Town of Bath and read the text that cites the federal public law designating the observance. "Now, therefore, we, by virtue of the authority vested in us as the town of Bath, do hereby proclaim the week of September 17th through the 23rd as constitution week," the mayor read aloud.
Alice Lance, introduced as president of the Daughters of the American Revolution, invited residents to a small public observance: "Constitution day is September 17. And at 4PM on the courthouse steps, we ring bells," she said, noting attendees with hand bells are welcome to join the minute-long ceremony. Council members discussed flying American flags along a main street for the event and taking a group photo with the DAR members.
The proclamation will be signed by the mayor and town clerk and retained in the town records; the mayor encouraged residents to participate in the bell ringing and public ceremony as part of the town's civic celebrations.
