Bath Community Garden sets April 19 meeting; asks council for water access help

Melissa Schott, speaking for the Bath Community Garden, told the council the garden will hold its first planning meeting of the season on April 19 at noon and invited volunteers to join. “We're going to be having our first garden meeting on April 19 at noon in the garden,” Schott said, and asked how the town might reestablish water access for growing season workdays.
Council members discussed practical, low-cost options: sit barrels high with a tap to allow gravity feed, or use a 330-gallon barrel for storage and delivery. One council member noted that the rainwater collection system used previously was not feasible in its prior configuration and suggested placing barrels and a bottom spigot to let gravity feed the beds. The council offered to help arrange barrels and to coordinate on equipment and access.
Schott also said the garden plans to put up a sign identifying the town's Bath Community Garden and will hold recurrent workdays throughout the season. She invited interested residents to leave contact information with town staff or at the meeting.
