Council appoints Evelyn Base to Sunman parks board; park mailer and five-year plan discussed

The parks representative introduced Evelyn Base, a new parks-board applicant who lives on the county line and has been described as active in scheduling and grant research. "She's very interested in helping us out, and she has some really good ideas," the presenter said when introducing the applicant. The council asked a few clarifying questions, confirmed spelling of her name, and voted to accept her appointment to the parks board.

The parks representative also described park activity: nightly ball-field rentals, maintenance assistance from town staff and volunteers, and plans to pull weeds and do front-of-building landscaping when weather permits. She proposed a mailer, similar to materials used by rescue and fire departments, to raise funds for park projects mentioned in the five-year plan — including a walking path and other amenities — noting that declining festival revenue has reduced local funding sources. Council members agreed she could proceed with outreach and asked staff to assist with grant research and to coordinate on scheduling.
