Fremont County P&Z elects officers, schedules follow‑up items for Jan. 23 meeting

At the start of its Jan. 20 meeting, the Fremont County Planning & Zoning Commission handled internal business: officer elections, approval of minutes and scheduling next meetings.
With the previous chair having resigned, Commissioner Dennis Forbush nominated Jim Jorgensen for chair (Thayne Goulding seconded) and Commissioner Sonnie Haws nominated Commissioner Tiffaney Marez for vice chair (Forbush seconded). The commission voted unanimously to elect Jim Jorgensen as chair and Tiffaney Marez as vice chair; staff noted that if Jorgensen declines the role he may inform the commission and elections can be revisited.
The commission approved the Dec. 8, 2025 minutes by unanimous vote. Staff proposed moving the regular meeting to Jan. 23, 2026, because the usual Monday falls on a holiday; commissioners agreed. Vice Chair Tiffaney Marez asked staff to add discussion items for the next meeting to clarify whether the chair votes regularly or only to break ties and to revisit moratoriums, which Commissioner JC Siddoway previously raised. Staff agreed to place those items on the agenda.
Commissioner JC Siddoway moved to dismiss the meeting and Commissioner Sonnie Haws seconded; the meeting was adjourned at 6:26 p.m.
