National Assembly of State Arts Agencies to meet in DC Oct. 7–9; organizers preview off‑site programming

Katie Hughes, senior development manager at the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASA), and Eric Giles, NASA’s community learning director, presented an overview of the Assembly that NASA will host in Washington, D.C., Oct. 7–9, 2026. They described a program designed to move attendees out of the hotel and into neighborhoods and cultural institutions across the city, and they emphasized opportunities for commissioners and staff to welcome guests and highlight District programming.
"We're very, very excited to come to DC this year," Hughes said, describing NASA as a nonprofit association that supports state and jurisdictional arts agencies with advocacy, data, and professional development. Eric Giles previewed off-site experiences (peer-group meetings at galleries, museums and performance venues) and said the Assembly will include sessions on technology, AI, creative aging and public arts site visits.
CAH staff and commissioners agreed the Assembly is an opportunity to showcase DC's cultural ecosystem; NASA asked commissioners to attend, network and help welcome visiting delegations. NASA also noted that a portion of its budget comes from public dollars, including NEA funding, and that members will have opportunities for advocacy and professional learning during the event.
