The Sweet Home City Council granted the city manager authority to finalize negotiations and execute a construction contract for Sankey Park Phase 3 after staff reported an award recommendation and funding sources.
City staff said design is complete and that a competitive request for proposals produced nine submissions (eight were responsive). An independent evaluation committee ranked North Santiam Paving highest and staff said a notice of intent to award had been issued. “As far as numbers go, the contract amount is $496,401.25,” the city manager said, adding that funding will come from a combination of grants, city funds and donations and that the project is already budgeted in the general fund.
A councilor expressed concern about engineering and bureaucracy driving up costs, and another councilor declared a potential conflict of interest and did not participate in the final vote. The clerk recorded six yeses and one abstention; the motion to grant negotiation and execution authority to the city manager passed.
