Sweet Home council reaffirms participation in intergovernmental MORE program

The Sweet Home City Council voted unanimously to reaffirm the city’s participation in the Managing Oregon Resources More Efficiently (MORE) intergovernmental agreement so the executed document can be filed with Marion County.
City Manager (staff) told the council that the city approved joining MORE in 2020 but the executed agreement was never filed, and that reaffirmation would let Sweet Home re‑execute and be formally listed as a participating agency. “And so tonight we're just simply asking Council to reaffirm the participation so we can re execute the agreement and file it properly and explore additional cost saving, partnerships,” the city manager said. Staff described the program as a cost‑saving resource‑sharing arrangement for equipment, personnel and materials (example: road striping through Marion County rather than hiring a private contractor).
Councilors thanked staff for discovering the filing omission and moved to approve the reaffirmation. The clerk recorded seven ayes and no nays to approve the action. Council members said the program aligns with efforts to reduce duplicative equipment purchases and stretch limited budgets.
