The Lindsborg City Council approved a new five-year School Resource Officer (SRO) contract with USD 400 at its Aug. 19, 2024 meeting, passing the motion 6-0. Councilmember Rebecca Van Der Wege moved to approve the contract; John Presley seconded the motion, and the roll call vote recorded six ayes and no nays.
City staff summarized several targeted changes to the prior 2019 agreement: attorney-recommended legal term revisions, added language confirming joint agreement on SRO selection, provisions allowing the Lindsborg Police Department flexibility to cover short-term absences, specification that the district will pay for overtime assignments, and clarification about when the officer may return to regular field duties. The USD 400 School Board approved renewal of the contract in July 2024, and the council’s approval completes the city’s action to extend the SRO role for another five years.
