Janet Fleming of Gannett Fleming asked the council and public to attend a public scoping meeting for the Warm Springs Watershed Plan scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the courthouse. She said the firm has completed initial scoping work that considers new detention ponds, bypasses and potential upstream projects that could reduce future flood damages.
"The Watershed Plan was approved for development about a year ago... Gannett Fleming has come into town. They've done an initial scoping of the watershed to look at the situation that we have with the bypass, all of the new detention ponds that have been put in, as well as look at some potential opportunities upstream from the town that could be used for projects," Janet Fleming said, urging attendance so residents can shape the plan. Council members noted that federal and state programs could fully fund certain prevention projects and highlighted the outreach requirement in the grant's public-participation plan.
