Town marshal: hire academy-trained deputy after paid officer resigns

Council members also discussed training and funding: the marshal proposed an online training package at about $99 per officer. The clerk confirmed restricted training funds exist and said the training request will be placed on an upcoming agenda for consideration. No formal hire occurred at the meeting; the marshal said he and staff will prepare the position wording and bring it back to the council.
