Planning staff presented Ordinance 2024‑19, which would adopt Lake Worth Beach’s Mobility Plan and amend five elements of the Comprehensive Plan to align with the Mobility Plan’s goals and objectives. Staff described the edits as enabling additional funding pathways and a Safety Action Plan focused on how people and goods move through the city beyond vehicular traffic.
Board members asked whether proposed traffic calming devices (such as concrete planters) might increase risk rather than reduce it, and raised questions about draft golf cart language and the Mobility fee. Staff and the Board Attorney said the city has not adopted a Mobility Fee Program and that golf cart regulatory language still requires drafting; the Board recommended forwarding the plan to the City Commission. Member Henry Pawski moved to recommend approval and Dave Mathews seconded; the motion passed unanimously. City Commission will initially hear the plan on Dec. 3, 2024.
