The city manager updated council on several local construction projects and said an accelerated schedule for Front Street work requires a closure next week for placement of large precast drainage boxes. "So it looks like this coming Monday, a week from today, we're gonna be looking at a closure of Front Street," the city manager said, adding that the closure will run for what staff expects to be about five months while storm-drain work and other elements are completed.
Staff said the pool and Kidtown access will remain via Play Street, the National Park Service will open an alternate entrance off 2nd Street, and the city will place detour signage and electronic message boards. The manager thanked staff and partners for securing multiple grants that allowed the project to proceed in staged phases and said staff will continue outreach to affected businesses.
