Council approves three-year billboard agreement with Link after Lamar sale error

Following a post-approval notification that Lamar had sold one previously approved billboard, CVB staff identified Link as an alternative vendor that could guarantee two larger I-70 billboards and a lit location. Council unencumbered the one-year Lamar contract for $11,204 and then approved a three-year agreement with Link for two billboards with a first annual payment of $10,075 and a one-time $775 graphics fee; both motions passed 7-0.
Staff said Link can guarantee the prices for three years but that each year’s expenditure will be brought back to Council for approval, and that Link specializes in serving small communities.
The change aims to secure improved billboard placements for the Convention & Visitors Bureau’s marketing efforts along I-70.
