Grant news: accessible fitness grant approved; Strawberry Park funding not awarded

"This grant doesn't expire," a staff member said, adding that the city can spend the award when ready. Later in the discussion a staff member said an equipment portion—"35,000"—will go to council next week for approval and described it as funding for equipment rather than construction.
On a different matter, staff reported the Strawberry Park grant application (intended to address drainage and create a pond and trail system) was not funded. The item remains on the committee's priority list but will require identifying other funding sources during the current budget season.
Committee members asked clarifying questions about spending windows, donor history and how staff will sequence projects. Staff said Sankey Park remains the top immediate priority until trail contracts are in place.
