Trustee, Chesterfield and DEQ to form committee to design split leachate treatment

DEQ said a mediation meeting produced agreement to create a three-party committee with representatives from the bankruptcy trustee, Chesterfield County and DEQ to evaluate whether the leachate stream can be split and treated via two treatment trains. "The trustee has 1 representative, Chesterfield County has representative, and DEQ has representative. And they're going to work together to focus on number 1. Can we split the system or not," Mike Roban said.
The committee's goals are to reach consensus on concept design, final design, construction and operations. Officials said splitting lower‑contaminant flows could allow some leachate to be treated through Chesterfield's existing pretreatment network (subject to county pretreatment criteria) and avoid expensive trucking to distant facilities.
