Panel approves forwarding request to buy 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee for engineering up to $41,799

The Finance, Legal and Public Safety Committee voted to forward a request to purchase a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited for the engineering department to the City Council with a recommendation of approval.
“This is a request to purchase a vehicle, from Liberty Superstores and amount not to exceed $41,799 for, use by the engineering department,” Bruce Martin, public works director, said when presenting the item. He added that the vehicle will be used for meetings, stakeholder engagement and on-site inspections and that the engineering fleet size will not increase because one current engineering vehicle will be reassigned to public works.
“Funds for this purchase were included in the fiscal year 25 engineering budget,” Martin said. A committee member moved to approve the purchase authorization and forward it to tonight’s council meeting with a recommendation of approval; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote.
City Council action is required to finalize the purchase; staff said three quotes were received and the Liberty Superstores quote was the lowest recorded in committee remarks.
