Lancaster County approved several grant-related items on July 21, including a DOJ Justice for Families grant application seeking $652,576 and a corrected subgrant award from the Nebraska Crime Commission for $135,154 to support the SquareOne project. Separately, the Board accepted a NEMA Emergency Performance Grant FY2025 adjustment note providing reimbursement in the amount of $61,819.40.
Lindsey Johnson, the County grant coordinator, said the DOJ application "seeks federal funding to support local family violence services." Human Services Administrator Sara Hoyle described the SquareOne subgrant as continuing funding for behavioral health services delivered through CenterPointe: "the competitive grant provides continued funding for behavioral health services delivered through CenterPointe." Emergency Management Director Jim Davidsaver said the federal grant provided "reimbursement for up to 50 percent of the salaries and benefits of local emergency management personnel" and explained the FY2025 funding was delayed at the federal level before state distribution.
All motions related to the grants were approved unanimously.
