Board renews license and service contracts for Lancaster County Mental Health Crisis Center

Lancaster County commissioners approved routine but operationally important items for the Lancaster County Mental Health Crisis Center on July 21, including a license renewal with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, an intergovernmental service agreement, and a psychiatrist on-call contract.
The Board approved the DHHS license renewal (fee $250) and an agreement with Region 5 Systems under which the Regional Behavioral Health Authority will pay $208 per individual, per day, for crisis stabilization services for individuals placed in emergency protective custody by other counties. Scott Etherton, Mental Health Crisis Center Director, said the Region 5 agreement "remains substantially unchanged from the previous year and continues to generate approximately $120,000 in annual revenue without raising service rates." He also noted that "finding qualified psychiatrists willing to provide on-call coverage remains difficult."
The Board approved an on-call psychiatrist agreement with Dr. Jose Gary B Nadala for the July 21, 2026–July 31, 2027 term. All motions passed unanimously.
