Police chief: parade permit application late; three key items still outstanding

Yuba City’s police chief told the council on July 21 that the city received the permit application for the upcoming Sikh parade after the stated deadline and that three operational contracts remain unfinished. "The due date for our permit for the city was 07/03/2026," the police chief said, and the application packet did not arrive until July 10.
The chief said the police department’s top priorities for approving and safely staging the event are an executed traffic-management contract, a security company contract for on-site checkpoints and a bus-transportation contract to move attendees from the high school to the parade area. "Those 3 items are outstanding, and they really are the most important things for us," the chief said. The chief added he will follow up with the temple representative who dropped a permit-related check at City Hall that day. The council requested a status update at the next meeting.
