Board approves wrestling cooperative with Mapleton and out-of-state tournament travel

The board approved an OSAA cooperative sports agreement allowing Mapleton students to join Siuslaw High School wrestling for two years because Mapleton lacks sufficient participants to field its own team. "This is 2 years because we're in this back half of a 4 year alignment cycle," administration explained.
The board also approved an out-of-state travel request for the wrestling program to attend the Sierra Nevada Classic in Reno on Dec. 27–28 and the Raleigh Lane Invitational in Nampa, Idaho on Jan. 3–4, 2025. Administration said volunteers and parents will chaperone and that students raising funds through ASB will cover costs; about 10 students are expected to attend. Directors voted in favor without opposition.
