Hogansville staff confirms timeline for UDO review; rezoning required for future proposals

City Manager Lisa E. Kelly told the Council and attendees that because Draft #5 contains significant revisions from the Planning & Zoning Commission’s earlier recommendation, staff will return the draft to the commission for further review on July 16, 2026. Staff also confirmed that any future data‑center proposal would require a separate rezoning application and that the Council could expect a public hearing and first reading on August 3, 2026, with a possible second reading on August 17, 2026.
Mayor Jake Ayers adjourned the public hearing at 7:47 p.m.; no formal action or vote occurred during the meeting. Staff and Council discussed whether the current moratorium on data‑center permits should be extended to prevent it from expiring before the ordinance is finalized.
