Hogansville council advances 2026–27 budget with sanitation hike and higher COLA

Hogansville’s City Council advanced key elements of the proposed 2026–27 municipal budget during a June 22 called work session, approving a $3-per-month increase to sanitation service charges and increasing the proposed cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for employees from 2.8% to 3.5%.
The changes were presented as part of the budget discussion led by City Manager Lisa Kelly. Council members agreed to remove one patrol position from the Police Department budget to help offset the additional personnel costs created by the higher COLA while approving some new positions in other departments. Council also asked that monthly unaudited financial reports be emailed to members and signaled support for beginning the next budget process earlier in the year.
