Ely Council appoints Michelle Yeoman to fill Seat 3

The Ely City Council unanimously appointed Michelle Yeoman to fill City Council Seat 3 at its June 26 meeting and City Clerk Jennifer Lee administered the oath of office.
Mayor Nathan Robertson said Yeoman’s permitting background would be useful as Ely faces several environmental reviews and infrastructure proposals. Yeoman introduced herself as an environmental engineer at Robinson Mine and described her long-term ties to the community, saying she “fell in love with Eastern Nevada” during seasonal work with the Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition and later as a mine employee. Councilman Dennis Perea moved the appointment and Robertson seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The Council immediately confirmed two mayoral designations for Yeoman: membership on the Local Emergency Planning Committee (per NAC 459.99131) and service as the Parks and Recreation Department liaison. Council members noted Yeoman’s local experience and engagement with both long-term and transient residents as reasons for support.
The appointment fills the seat through the city election cycle in November 2026. The Council’s vote was 5–0 in favor.
