Council authorizes signatures on letters of intent to pursue lease-to-own equipment purchases
Summary
Rather than approving lease contracts, the city authorized signatures on letters of intent for three lease-to-own acquisitions (John Deere 544P front loader, John Deere 1585 front-deck mower, Frontier FM4012 mower). City attorney clarified the letters are a step toward later lease agreements that will return to the council for formal approval.

City Attorney Matt Naughton clarified that items listed on the agenda as lease-to-own purchase agreements were being handled that evening only as authorizations to sign letters of intent; the full lease-to-own agreements will be returned to council for formal approval at a later date.
“So tonight, all we're looking at and all we're authorizing is the letters of intent to be signed, which will be the next step in the process toward acquisition of this equipment,” Naughton said. Separate motions were made and approved by roll call for the John Deere 544P front loader with attachments, the John Deere 1585 front-deck mower, and the Frontier FM4012 mower (all noted as coming through RDO Equipment in the staff report).
Council members emphasized the procedure: staff will complete the procurement and bring the full lease-to-own agreements back to council for formal contract approval following signature of the letters of intent. Each motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
