Council approves $41,799 vehicle purchase for engineering staff

The Box Elder City Council approved the purchase of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited from Liberty Superstores for an amount not to exceed $41,799 to be assigned to engineering staff.
Bruce Martin, public works director, said the vehicle will serve as a shared resource for engineering staff for meetings, on-site inspections and stakeholder engagement; upon purchase one current engineering vehicle will be reassigned to the Public Works Department. “This is a request to purchase a 2024, Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited from Liberty Superstores in amount not to exceed $41,799 for use by the engineering department,” Martin said. Three quotes were obtained for the purchase and funds were included in the FY25 engineering fund budget.
Council moved and approved the purchase by roll call. The purchase was described as budgeted and not as an expansion of fleet size for the engineering department.
