Council accepts final right-of-way donation for Bennett Road project

The Box Elder City Council approved a voluntary right-of-way donation easement from Rodney Vollmer that City Engineer Scott Lang said is the final easement needed to bid the Bennett Road (Ballmer Bennett Road) reconstruction project.
Lang explained the city had identified four needed easements, redesigned to avoid one, and required three; Vollmer’s donation is the third and final easement. "Once that is signed by the city or accepted by the city, we will then record it," Lang said, adding that the right-of-way certificate included in the agenda confirms the city has the easements necessary for South Dakota DOT to allow bidding on the project. Council approved the easement by motion and roll-call vote and authorized the mayor to sign associated documents.
With the easement recorded and the right-of-way certificate submitted, the city can move forward with DOT bidding for the Bennett Road project.
