Council approves up to $524,630 for North Ellsworth Road design work

The Box Elder City Council authorized a professional services agreement with Avid IV Engineering (recorded in the motion as "Avid 4") for design services on North Ellsworth Road intersections and reconstruction, with a not-to-exceed fee of $524,630. Scott Lang, the city engineer, said the project is funded through the OLDCC program and that six proposals were received and two firms were interviewed.
“After the review of the proposals we deemed that there was 2 that were really good and we interviewed Avid IV Engineering and HDR. Following that interview, Avid IV Engineering was deemed to be the best choice by the committee,” Lang said. Lang noted the scope increased slightly to add work south of the intersection but remained within the OLDCC budget. Council moved to approve the agreement and passed the motion by roll call.
The agreement allows staff to proceed with design work; Lang said the scope change caused an increase in the fee but remained within available funding. The council authorized the mayor to sign associated contract documents.
