Interim Finance Officer Renee Baker presented the city’s December and year-end financial review, telling the council that property taxes increased about 6.81% over 2023 and that sales tax revenue rose roughly 8.64%.
Baker announced a new surcharge of $2.60 to fund phase 1 of the '14–16 sewer project; she said the surcharge will be added to February bills for January usage and that residents should receive a mailer by the end of the week. She also described year-end budget adjustments, transfers involving the city's TIF districts, and said auditors were on site to help finalize those adjustments. Baker noted the city paid off an SRF loan about 10 years early and that the city’s cash position remains healthy.
Council members did not request further questions during the presentation and the informational report will be filed. "That surcharge is $2.60 and that will be added to the February bill," Baker said during her presentation.
