Council considered and adopted Ordinance 2026-76, an amendment to the annual appropriations ordinance, and added the emergency clause to make funds available immediately.
The finance director summarized the amendment, saying it covers tree removal work, the addition of a part-time police dispatcher, higher postage expenses, motor vehicle parts and external repair costs for the city garage, and the receipt of a $10,000 contribution from the YMCA to support a diabetes prevention initiative. The director asked for emergency adoption "to ensure the Department of Finance has the resources needed to meet our obligation."
Council moved to dispense with the 2nd and 3rd readings, added the emergency clause, and adopted the ordinance by roll call; the clerk recorded a unanimous yes vote. The appropriation change allows finance to proceed with the purchases and personnel addition described in the amendment.
