City office roof leaks; insurance notified and roofing bids solicited

After rain damage discovered Nov. 18, the city reported interior sheetrock damage and a Utility Department assessment that the decking under the tin roof "is rotted." An adjuster from EMC Insurance inspected the site and the city solicited bids from multiple roofing contractors.
When the City Office opened on Nov. 18 staff found ceiling damage from a roof leak and sheetrock discoloration. Utility Department member Nathan Barnett inspected the attic and "believes the decking under the tin roof is rotted," according to the minutes. EMC Insurance was notified and an adjuster visited the site; the city solicited bids from Border to Border, South Roofing and Tobel Construction to repair the roof.
City Administrator LeaAnn Myers also reported that staff will await the insurance response and review bids before moving forward. Councilmember Wiford suggested obtaining a quote from B3 Construction for demolition of the old Fire Department in a separate matter addressed during the meeting.
