The Altamont council reviewed quotes for self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for the fire department and discussed applying for an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). The AFG micro grant is limited to $75,000; council discussed that the Township is not eligible to apply and explored how shared ownership or leasing could work if the City purchases equipment for both entities.
On a motion by Councilmember Kyle Wiford, seconded by Councilmember Lyle Sykes, the council approved paying half of the listed Quote 1 from Ed M. Feld Equipment Company, with funding from the Public Safety Sales Tax. Administrator Myers asked the City Attorney about legal options for sharing City-owned equipment with the Township; City Attorney Robert Myers indicated the Township could buy or lease the equipment from the City.
