The Fire Department reported three structure fires (two in Parsons, one in Oswego), eight medical calls, and several other incidents this period. The department said it applied for nine grants in 2024 and was awarded four, totaling $10,563; awarded items include extrication gloves, battery sawzalls, battery chainsaws and two ZOLL AEDs.
The department noted it is pursuing remaining grant opportunities (Leary Firefighters Foundation) for battery-powered PPV fans and hopes to begin purchasing SCBA units. The report also said Altamont will adopt the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) in 2025 to replace NFIRS for incident reporting.
