City reports 17% increase in 2025 health insurance premiums

The City Administrator reported to council that health insurance rates for 2025 increased by 17 percent; dental premiums were reported to have decreased by between 6 percent and 20 percent depending on plan. City staff met with a Blue Cross Blue Shield representative to review 2025 health and dental premium options.
The administrator's report also covered staffing and training updates: department heads completed employee evaluations, Heather Beasley completed the Municipal Clerks Certification Institute, and two new police officers are enrolled in academy training from Dec. 2 to Mar. 21. The report included ongoing work on a Transportation Alternatives sidewalk grant with KDOT and cybersecurity steps such as implementation of password vaults.
