Altamont council hears 200 MW Ninnescah Flats solar proposal; agreement tabled for legal review

Tyson McGreer of KMGA updated the council on the proposed Ninnescah Flats solar project, which he described as a 200 MW development with KMEA holding 75 MW and pursuing a targeted 30-year contract. McGreer told the council, "The project is scheduled to go live in January 2027," and urged cities to return signed contracts by the end of the year. He said transmission fees would be "included in the total cost of the agreement."
The council did not vote on Resolution 302, which would authorize the city to execute the KMEA agreement. City Attorney Robert Myers asked to table the resolution for further review, identifying particular contract provisions requiring attention and listing "5.3A, 6.4, 8.2, 10.4, 14.2, 11.4 & 11.5" by section number. The minutes record the item as tabled until the next meeting so legal questions can be resolved before the city commits to the contract timeline.
