Brightspeed has approached the City of Altamont to update its fiber system on utility poles in town and asked for a list of city contacts and any administrative requirements tied to the process. According to the minutes, Brightspeed has not yet produced a plan identifying which poles it would attach to.
The minutes also note there is currently no franchise fee established between Brightspeed and the city; City Administrator LeaAnn Myers said the city will need to establish a franchise fee and has requested a pole plan from the company. No action or timeline was recorded for setting a franchise fee at the Oct. 10 meeting.
