Altamont council confirms Tim Ames as new police officer

Mayor Richard Hayward nominated Tim Ames and the council approved his appointment to the Altamont Police Department by motion. Ames was formally introduced to the council and community during the Nov. 14 meeting.
Lieutenant Powell introduced Ames as a resident of Altamont who is originally from Lenapah, Oklahoma and "worked casino security for 9 years." The City Administrator's report noted Ames started with the department on Nov. 4. Council approval followed a motion by Councilmember Lyle Sykes, seconded by Councilmember Kyle Wiford.
