The council scheduled a public work session for Monday, July 29, 2024, at 6:30 PM at the Altamont Park Building to discuss Idle Hour Lake and possible annexation. A separate (but co-timed) work session will address Labette County zoning and its effects on Altamont; county zoning administrator Mel Hass is working to provide a three-mile zoning-buffer map for the city and Idle Hour Lake.
The sessions are intended to gather information and discuss jurisdictional and planning implications; no formal annexation or zoning action was taken at the July 25 council meeting.
