Altamont updates: transfer-station fee rises, AMI water meters and lead-and-copper survey noted

City Administrator LeaAnn Myers told the council that per contract the transfer-station fee increased 2% on Aug. 1, 2024, raising the rate from $44.25 per ton to $45.14 per ton. The change was presented as a contract-level adjustment rather than a council-initiated new charge.
Deputy City Clerk Bridget Nash and staff are working to integrate AMI water-meter endpoints with the city's municipal software and to set up customer portals for residents interested in daily water-usage data. Administrator Myers also reminded the council that the Lead & Copper Survey Inventory must be submitted to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment by Oct. 16, 2024.
