Council extends two lake-site stays through Nov. 4; winter stay policy item requested

Two requests to remain at lake campsites were approved by the Altamont City Council at the Sept. 12 meeting. The council extended Drew Collins' stay until Nov. 4, 2024; Collins was described as working for Day & Zimmerman at Parsons and asked to return to the Oct. 24 meeting to report future plans. The council also approved an extension for Travis Wright through Nov. 4 while he completes work on the new auxiliary gym at LCHS.
During discussion Councilmember Lyle Sykes asked that the council add a future agenda item to consider wintertime stays and to develop policies and procedures for keeping campsite areas clean, including potential fines or penalties for noncompliance. No formal policy was adopted at the Sept. 12 meeting; the matter was advanced for future consideration.
