Altamont publishes proposed 2025 budget; hearings and lead-and-copper survey dates set

The City Administrator reviewed the proposed 2025 municipal budget at the Aug. 8 council meeting and reminded the public that exceed-the-revenue-neutral-rate (RNR) and budget hearings will be held Aug. 22, 2024 at 6:45 PM in the City Council Room at 407 S. Huston.
Staff also noted regulatory reporting deadlines tied to water quality: the Lead and Copper Survey Inventory must be submitted to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment by Oct. 16, 2024. The minutes indicate staff published budget documents and hearing notices on the city website and in the Labette Avenue newspaper.
No formal budget vote occurred at the Aug. 8 meeting; the hearing schedule gives residents an opportunity to comment at the Aug. 22 session.
